There’s always a time when you would love to have that subtle music playing in the background, without any lyrics, during your evening conversations over a beer, or any relaxing moment. They’re like fillers, to fill in the gaps of silences, and yet at the same time, going under when someone speaks. Now, you party lovers might just think of some Trance music, but trust me, you’re not going to have that meaningful conversation with Armin Van Buuren playing in the background.

You would be amazed as to how much difference that song in the background can make to your evening, even if its just back at home. Here are some of the top songs you should have on your playlist, in no particular order –

       For the guitar freak
  • Buckethead – Soothsayer/Whitewash (Live version)
  • Steve Vai – For the love of god
  • Paul Gilbert – Eudaimonia Overture
  • Van Halen – Eruption
  • John Petrucci – Glasgow Kiss

For the classics lover
  • Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood/Pride and Joy/Little Wing
  • Maggot Brain - Funkadelic
  • Pink Floyd – On the run
  • Ted Nugent – Stranglehold
  • The Allman Brothers – Jessica

For the metal fanatic
  • In Flames – The Jester’s Dance/Man Made God
  • Metallica – The Call of Ktulu/Orion
  • Liquid Tension Experiment – Universal Mind
  • Paul Gilbert – Technical difficulties
  • Dream Theater – Overture 1928/Erotomania

     For the peaceful one

  • Sysyphe – Sinking
  • God is an Astronaut – Parallel Highway
  • Ott – The Queen of Everything
  • Ryan Farish – Pacific Wind/Chasing the Sun
  • Kaminanda – Gateways of Consciousness (album)

For the comtemporary romantic
  • Coldplay – Life in Technicolor
  • The Verve – Bittersweet Symphony (Instrumental)
  • John Mayer – Why Georgia (Instrumental)
  • Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars (Instrumental)
  • John Butler Trio - Ocean

Hope this compilation was useful, and please feel free to add any more tracks you like! So, which one are you?

  1. i like this article.. gonna try the metal list out tonight.. ;-)

but if you don't want to stick to instrumentals, i find that most thrash metal albums make excellent beer-music.. queue up some tankard or municipal waste, crack open a cold one or five, and let the good times roll..
